GoldenComm is a digital marketing and ecommerce agency headquartered in Southern California. For more than two decades, the company has helped clients bring ideas to life through custom web development, platform integration and marketing strategies.

“We’re a one-stop shop,” explained Andrew Nguyen, CTO, GoldenComm.“We work directly with business owners to understand their requirements, then select the most suitable platform — whether it’s Kentico CMS, nopCommerce, WordPress, or another solution — and build a custom web application that integrates seamlessly with their existing infrastructure, such as Navision/Microsoft Dynamics ERP or other systems.”

Situation

GoldenComm offers end-to-end digital solutions, from consulting to design, development, hosting and marketing. Its clients range from small startups to established enterprises, and GoldenComm serves each one with the same commitment to performance, security and cost efficiency.

As that diversity of needs grew, so did infrastructure demands. Customers expected fast, secure application delivery, while security and regulatory obligations — including PCI DSS, HIPAA and internal audit controls — added further complexity. And with inflation affecting client budgets, GoldenComm needed to reduce operating costs without compromising performance or uptime.

The team evaluated its existing infrastructure and began exploring more flexible and scalable solutions that could maintain the service levels their customers relied on. Rackspace SDDC Business emerged as the right fit — delivering the agility GoldenComm needed, at a cost that made sense.

Solution

GoldenComm selected Rackspace SDDC Business as their new VMware environment and unlocked greater agility and control for the internal IT team. Previously, changes to infrastructure — such as increasing disk space or modifying configurations — required opening support tickets for resolution. With Rackspace SDDC Business and direct access to VMware vCenter, GoldenComm can now make these adjustments in real time, significantly accelerating service delivery and troubleshooting.

Perhaps most telling was the smoothness of the migration itself. Rackspace Elastic Engineering completed the full cutover — including 40 to 50 VMs supporting hundreds of websites and applications — in a single overnight window. There was no drop in service, no disruption to customers and no compromise in uptime or performance.

“Rackspace expertise and assistance were integral to this migration process,” said Deveau. “From deploying the new infrastructure, scoping out the migration to delivering a step-by-step migration and rollback plan, they were able to turn what could have been months to 8 hours. So, it was pretty impressive.”

This rapid execution minimized service disruption and gave the GoldenComm team full confidence in the stability of its new environment from day one.

“We always plan for the worst, so I was bracing for issues,” recalled Nguyen. “But the day after the migration, it was almost anticlimactic — everything just worked. Nothing went down, everything stayed online. It honestly made my day. It ended up going better than I expected.”

With modern infrastructure, deeper control and a more efficient cost structure, GoldenComm is better positioned to grow, scale and support its customers well into the future.

“Now we have the ability to log in and handle things ourselves, which makes us nimbler,” explained Deveau. “We can deploy workloads faster and save time and money — for both our team and our customers.”
