Together With Pride, We’re a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality for 5 Years!
by Amanda Halbritter, Senior Global Content Marketer, Rackspace Technology
Rackspace Technology® is proud to announce that we’ve been named a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality for the fifth consecutive year by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
The HRC’s Corporate Equality Index rates companies based on corporate policies, practices, and benefits for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) employees. The index measures detailed criteria falling under four central pillars: non-discrimination policies across business entities, equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families, support for an inclusive culture, and corporate social responsibilities.
“Rackspace Technology is known throughout the industry for our diverse, inclusive, and vibrant company culture that cultivates a sense of belonging while offering growth and enrichment opportunities for every employee,” said Chinten Parikh, Senior Director, Global Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
One of the ways we advance diversity, inclusion, and belonging is through our global Racker Resource Groups (RRGs) like Together with Pride, an employee-led group committed to supporting LGBTQ+ Rackers and educating allies.
Together With Pride
The iteration of Together with Pride was formed more than eight years ago, and the group recently reorganized, merging our Americas-based Pride RRG and our UK-based Together RRG. The new Together with Pride RRG launched with the mission to be a resource for all Rackers, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, by providing opportunities to celebrate, engage, and develop at Rackspace Technology and in the local community.
“We want to attract diverse talent, and we want to be loud about it,” said Emily Clark, Manager, MPC Deployments and Vice President of Together with Pride. “We have to celebrate wins such as this and also strive to surpass HRC’s Best Place to Work designation by raising the bar for our equality standards.”
The RRG encourages Rackers to grow their networks, engage in mentorship, support each other, and practice leadership in a safe setting. It also provides diversity education, professional development, networking, support, and a place for belonging.
The RRG connects its members through virtual events and group Teams chats, where more than 400 Rackers express their pride through art, photos, poems, letters, blogs, and more. They also hold monthly “Pride Chats,” a safe space for Rackers and allies to gather and talk in a roundtable fashion.
“We often have giveaways where the sole purpose is to engage our community of Rackers by encouraging them to participate in conversations and activities,” said Zara Dooley, MPC Process Engineer and President of Together with Pride.
2022 And Beyond
“Our plans for this year are to create a globally unified RRG with resources, celebrations, and content that is available for Rackers anywhere in the world -- whatever their identity, location, or position within the LGBTQ+ community,” said Dooley. “As a non-binary, trans individual, I want to elevate what we’re doing to truly be inclusive. Not just during Pride Month, but year-round.”
The RRG announced that they recently became a sponsor of the Pride Center San Antonio, near Rackspace Technology’s headquarters, a local non-profit organization committed to promoting and empowering San Antonio’s LGBTQ+ community. Globally, the group has plans to sponsor The International Gay & Lesbian Football Association (IGLFA), a partnership that would provide resources to Rackers in their communities across the world.
Rackspace Technology is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion at every level in our company. We deliver the future for our customers by creating a culture in which Rackers feel a sense of belonging and can thrive by being their whole authentic selves at work.
Our global Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging strategy is built on the foundation that all Rackers and potential Rackers, customers, vendors, business partners, and guests are treated with respect and free from discrimination based on who they are.
We strive to be a world-class company known for its diverse workforce and inclusive work environment. Simply put, we want to be the best place to work.
