People HR® turns to Rackspace to help with GDPR compliance

London –  7th, February 2018 – Rackspace® today announced that it is helping leading Human Resources (HR) software provide, People HR®, to help protect its critical customer data in the lead-up to implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) across Europe. A Rackspace customer of three years, People HR recently added Rackspace Managed Security to its portfolio to help protect customer data and create clear policies around the data governance and protection regulation before it comes into effect in May of this year.

Established in Doncaster by Manjit Sindhar and Sat Sindhar, two veterans of the HR industry, People HR allows businesses to manage employee records, holidays, absences and training through one dashboard. Since 2012, People HR has grown and now has more than 4,000 customers worldwide, including Disney® and the AO Group®. As digital transformation continues to impact the HR industry, the company has grown its annual turnover to £6 million.

Offering customers a 30 day ‘get out’ clause if they’re unsatisfied with the service, People HR experienced fast-paced growth, but was under pressure to ensure its infrastructure could cope with increased demand. After a consultation period, People HR turned to Rackspace for support – harnessing Rackspace’s private cloud for more flexibility and giving the business access and expertise to mitigate the risk of downtime.

Continually working with Rackspace to run and improve the company’s cloud infrastructure, People HR wanted to give clients peace of mind by ensuring its data security measures were robust. Having started its ISO 2017001 project in 2016, the HR software provider again turned to Rackspace for support – incorporating Rackspace Managed Security earlier this year.

Launched in 2015, Rackspace Managed Security provides the technology and security expertise to help businesses like People HR identify, mitigate and remediate data breaches and attacks. Through Rackspace Managed Security, businesses have access to security personnel that can keep them protected 365 days a year.

Sat Sindhar, Managing Director, People HR said: “Although we had been working with Rackspace for some time, there are many options in the security space and we wanted to ensure we picked the best one for us. However, what stood out is their strong reputation in the industry and with our clients, as well as their ability to work with us as part of the team to manage our security. We did extensive research and didn’t come to the decision lightly, but we’re pleased to deepen our relationship. We had no doubts we were getting the gold standard in security. For us, security is most effective if you don’t even notice it’s there”.

Daniel O'Neill, senior manager of cyber security at Rackspace, EMEA at Rackspace added: “With GDPR looming, companies of all shapes and sizes should be moving compliance with that legislation to the top of their agendas. That’s why we’re thrilled to be working with a fast growing and exciting UK tech firm like People HR, as they look to expand their business in a fully supported and secure environment. Choosing the right cyber security provider can often seem a daunting task, with the threat landscape constantly changing and hundreds of vendors on the market claiming to offer protection. We want to help ensure that businesses make the right choice, making them feel at ease that sensitive customer data is secured.”

In terms of what’s next for People HR, the team is looking to expand further across Europe and globally in the next year. To support this, they will be working to improve their disaster recovery strategy for their cloud infrastructure, as well as develop their data encryption strategy.
