The Public Cloud Imperative for 2025 and Beyond

Synchronoss leaders knew they needed a strategic partner to help design, migrate and manage its public cloud solution. They chose Rackspace.
Synchronoss, a software company that serves tech, telecom and media companies, was facing a massive data challenge — like 300 terabytes a day massive.
That volume comes from the company’s wildly successful mobile content transfer service, which allows millions of subscribers to seamlessly and safely transfer their personal data whenever they upgrade to a new smartphone.
Tackling this challenge had become a major distraction from the company’s core mission of helping its customers drive revenue and delight consumers. After conducting an extensive assessment, Synchronoss understood that hosting and managing the infrastructure to support this service in-house wasn’t scalable. Company leaders determined the best option would be to move the backbone of the content transfer service to a public cloud.
But company leaders knew they would need a higher level of service than public cloud providers generally offer. They needed a strategic partner to help design, migrate and manage its solution.
Synchronoss found that partner in Rackspace, which provided a broad array of cloud services, including tooling, architecture guidance and best practices — all backed by AWS-certified engineers and high-touch, around-the-clock support. And thanks to the Rackspace Service Blocks model, Synchronoss was able to access the right tools and expertise at the right time, even as its AWS needs evolved.

In the video above, Synchronoss SVP of Global Delivery Jeffrey Gill describes how moving into the public cloud, with the support of Rackspace, allowed the company to reduce costs, speed deployments, increase reliability and redeploy many of its own technologists from supporting its infrastructure to doing more valuable work.
Looking at potential partners, Gill says, Synchronoss was looking for a sales pitch not unlike the one they give their own potential customers: rely on our experience for what we do best, and use your resources to focus on your core business, to differentiate yourself and drive revenue.
That Gartner placed Rackspace in the Leader’s quadrant 2019 (and 2018 and 2017) Magic Quadrant for Public Cloud Infrastructure, Professional and Managed Services didn’t hurt either.
Is your organization looking for a strategic technology partner to accelerate the value of cloud? Consider Rackspace.
