Rackspace VP Lisa McLin Wins Woman of the Year Gold Stevie

Please join us in congratulating Vice President of Channel Sales and Channel Chief Lisa McLin for winning a Gold Stevie for Woman of the Year in the Business Services Industries category of the American Business Awards.

“Brains, determination and grit – that’s what we look for in our Woman of the Year,” one ABA judge wrote about Lisa.

The ABA recognized Lisa for the impact of the channel program transformation she’s driven at Rackspace, including her impressive depth of planning and execution, strategic leadership and the value of partnerships she’s created to enhance new business models.

The ABA bills itself as America’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Lisa began at Rackspace as a staff accountant almost two decades ago and served as vice president of sales before being tapped to head Rackspace’s channel programs. During her tenure, Lisa has led the channel’s contribution to Rackspace new bookings by approximately 50 percent.

“Creating a culture of inclusion that empowers all Rackers to succeed is critical to our success,” Lisa said. “I’m honored to be recognized by the Stevie Awards and to be in such good company with my fellow nominees. I share this recognition with all of the incredible women I’ve had the privilege to mentor and work with during my career.”

This is not her first accolade. Lisa was named one of the 50 Most Influential Channel Chiefs of 2018, honored as CRN 2018 Women in the Channel, and was awarded Channel Partners Circle of Excellence for her executive vision, innovation and advocacy of the indirect channel. Also last year, she was named to the board of Directors for the Texas Conference for Women, and introduced keynote speaker Reese Witherspoon. In 2016, she became executive sponsor for Rackspace’s Professional Organization for Women’s Empowerment, or POWER, an employee resource group.

Judges also noted her success and recognition in the Latinx community. “Lisa’s innovative spirit and strategic approach to improvements and growth is outstanding. She has made great contributions to the success of Rackspace today. Great work and efforts!”

“Lisa advocates for those growing in their careers and regularly spends time shepherding and mentoring upcoming leaders,” said David Meredith, Rackspace’s chief operating officer.

“Lisa is a passionate leader who does a tremendous job engaging with employees at every level,” he said. “She creates meaningful impact with her leadership by providing career advancement opportunities to a diverse group of Rackers. Lisa’s recognition in these awards is well-deserved and a true testament to her leadership.”

Through her involvement with the company’s inclusion and philanthropic activities, Lisa challenges the notion that work is focused on a singular set of roles and responsibilities: “Getting involved with the culture and life of a company brings a richness, not only to the company, but also to the employee,” she says.

Lisa will attend the ABA gala in New York City on June 11 to accept the award.
