Matt is responsible for leading Rackspace’s efforts to scale the expertise and Fanatical Support that it delivers to customers, along with the engaged workplace culture that enables our exceptional customer service. Since Rackspace went private in November 2016, Matt has led our efforts to shift resources to the lines of business that are growing most rapidly, and to operate more cost efficiently. His team's work — aided by great suggestions from Rackers all across the company — has resulted in rising margins and record levels of cash flow. Before he became chief transformation officer in July 2017, Matt served as interim chief financial officer at Rackspace, where he was responsible for the company's financial planning and reporting. Matt grew up in the Seattle area and earned a B.A. from Brigham Young University, and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduation, he worked for the investment bank Alex Brown on the Rackspace account, after which our founders lured him away. During his 15 years at Rackspace, Matt has worked not only in finance but also in other key areas including support, operational excellence, and corporate development. He helped instill the discipline that has kept Rackspace growing profitably. He helped execute our successful 2008 IPO, as well as our recent transaction to go private. Matt and his wife have six children, whom they nurture, along with chickens and fruit trees, on a small farm near San Antonio.
