Louis Alterman is the chief financial officer for Rackspace, responsible for driving the company’s financial strategies in the U.S. and globally to accelerate growth and profitability.
Prior to joining Rackspace in June of 2017, Louis served as chief financial officer of EarthLink, an Internet pioneer that successfully transitioned into cloud networking. During his tenure as CFO, EarthLink materially increased cash flow and reduced leverage, and successfully launched and grew new service offerings for enterprise and mid-market customers. Before that transaction, Louis managed all aspects of EarthLink’s financial activities, including investor relations, business operations, financial planning and analysis, controllership, treasury, tax, procurement and real estate. Before becoming CFO, he served as executive vice president of strategy, operations and transformation where he successfully drove strategic, operational and financial improvements company-wide.
Louis earned a bachelor’s degree in business and finance at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business where he graduated Cum Laude and as a Presidential Scholar. He also earned an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, Louis joined BellSouth where he worked in a variety of domestic and international rolls, including assignments in Buenos Aires and Caracas.
He currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees at the Ron Clark Academy, an internationally acclaimed middle school that is transforming education.
Louis and his wife, Amy, have three young children, and the family is active in a wide variety of sports.
