Our Onica acquisition comes as enterprises continue to dive more deeply into AWS’s increasingly advanced functions, including analytics, artificial intelligence and information security. They’re also facing major skills gaps in those areas, according to a recent report from 451 Research — and that’s driving growth in the adoption of professional and managed services.

Since 2015, when Rackspace first announced our managed services for AWS at re:Invent, we’ve been expanding our capabilities to stay ahead of customers’ increasing appetite for new revenue streams, increased efficiency and innovative customer experiences. Our work has earned Rackspace a spot as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Public Cloud Infrastructure Professional and Managed Service Providers Worldwide for the past three years running.

Adding External Datastores to VMware Cloud on AWS using Cloud Volume Services? Yes Please! For those working with VMware Cloud on AWS and struggling to stay within budget due to storage requirements, or who need high-performance storage that scales independently of compute resources, this session’s for you. Learn how Rackspace has solved this challenge by combing NetApp’s highly performant, cost-effective Cloud Volume Services with VMware Cloud on AWS and delivering it as a native VMware NFS-based datastore.

Presented by Rackspace Strategic Alliances Manager Donald Schubot on Tues., Dec.  3 at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and Wed., Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., NetApp Booth #701

Deep Dive on AWS Backup: AWS Backup is a fully managed, policy-based backup solution that makes it easy to automatically back up your application data across AWS services in the cloud as well as on premises using AWS Storage Gateway. Using AWS Backup, you can centrally configure backup policies and monitor backup activity for AWS resources, such as Amazon EBS volumes, Amazon EC2 instances, Amazon RDS databases and Aurora clusters, Amazon DynamoDB tables, Amazon EFS file systems, and Storage Gateway volumes. This session will also cover how AWS Backup functionalities help customers reduce administrative overhead and address compliance requirements.

Presented by Rackspace Senior Solution Architect Jason Pavo and Head of Product, AWS Backup Nancy Wang, Thurs., Dec. 5, 1:45 p.m., Aria, Level 3 West, Juniper 1.

Take a break and build some Legos with us!

Now, about winning that Lego EV3 Intelligent Brick. We know re:Invent can be overwhelming, what with the hundreds of bootcamps, keynotes, dev chats, and certification tests. Take a break and come play with us! We’re hosting a “Master Wu” Lego-building competition, with six competitions each day. And because we know you’re as competitive as we are, we’ll have a leaderboard showing the fastest builders each day.

The fastest builder in each group will score a Lego Las Vegas skyline kit, with the top winner overall taking home the EV3 Intelligent Brick, complete with illuminated six-button interface that changes color to indicate the brick's active state, a high-resolution black and white display, built-in speaker, USB port, mini SD card reader plus four input and four output ports.

And hey, if you’re a first timer, check out the daily tips and survival guide from re:Invent veteran and Racker Sarah Hollingsworth. Here’s one to get you started: “Get your conference badge at the airport. Badge pick up starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1. Trust me, just do it.”
