SVP & General Counsel, U.S.
William Alberts is Rackspace’s general counsel – U.S., as well as a senior vice president of the company and its secretary. He is responsible for leading the U.S. legal team and heading various global practice areas including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate finance, corporate compliance and privacy, insurance, and corporate marketing. Before becoming general counsel, William served as Rackspace’s associate general counsel, focusing on the management and development of the securities and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance practice areas, and also served as the managing attorney for the U.S. legal team.
Before joining Rackspace, William served as counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in San Antonio, where he specialized in public securities offerings and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, general contract negotiations and other corporate matters.
William received his B.B.A. in business management from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his J.D. (magna cum laude) from the St. Mary's University School of Law in that city. He is a member of the state bar of Texas and serves as a board member of San Antonio Sports, a nonprofit organization that is transforming the San Antonio community through the power of sports. William has also served as a Sunday school teacher and volunteer flag football coach for Northeast Bible Church, and speaks on topics ranging from corporate finance to issues regarding religion in the workplace.
