Gartner positions Rackspace in the “Leaders” Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Managed Hybrid Cloud Hosting, Europe

LONDON – July 17, 2017 – Rackspace today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the “Leaders” quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Managed Hybrid Cloud Hosting, Europe.

The Gartner evaluation, carried out by the analyst’s IT industry experts, reviews providers on their ability to execute and the completeness of their vision. It characterises providers in quadrants labelled Niche Players, Challengers, Visionaries and Leaders.

Rackspace is one of six in the Leaders quadrant. As noted in the report, “Leaders have proved they have staying power in this market, can frequently innovate on their existing products, and can be relied on for enterprise-class needs. They have proved their technical competence and ability to deliver services to a wide range of customers. They address multiple use cases with stand-alone or integrated solutions. They also have a presence in multiple European locations to offer solutions around data sovereignty requirements.”

Gartner IT experts also review a provider’s service offerings, service excellence, and customers’ experience with sales, support and operations. In addition, it looks at overall business viability, reflected in a provider’s ability to service a customer over a three-year period.

“We believe Gartner’s recognition of Rackspace as a Leader is a result of a huge amount of hard work from expert Rackers who have rapidly built a reputation for high-quality customer service,” said Lee James, Chief Technology Officer at Rackspace EMEA.

“We’re very well positioned in a European cloud hosting market where data sovereignty and residency are becoming increasingly important, with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force by the end of May 2018, increasing fines twentyfold to €20 million or 4% of global turnover.”
