Managed Cloud Leader Fostering Stronger Collaboration Across Redis Community; Issues Call for Speakers

SAN ANTONIO – January 13, 2014 – Rackspace® (NYSE: RAX), the #1 managed cloud company, today announced that it will host the Redis Conference, which is aimed at building greater collaboration between application developers, database administrators and Redis to Go practitioners throughout the growing Redis community.  This first time event will take place in San Francisco at the Innovation Hangar in the Palace of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall on March 5, 2015, the day after Rackspace::Solve™ San Francisco.

“With more businesses adopting open source databases, we’ve seen significant growth across the Redis community this past year,” said Kenny Gorman, chief technologist for data at Rackspace. “This community will help set the pace of innovation in the cloud moving forward. The Redis Conference offers these developers the chance to share their knowledge and expertise, while learning from other Redis project leaders.”

The Redis Conference will feature keynote speaker, Salvatore Sanfilippo, the inventor of Redis. His keynote will highlight how Redis has evolved over the past few years and where it is heading in the future. In an effort to gain deeper insights directly from the Redis community, Rackspace is also announcing a call for speakers for its business and technical speaking tracks.  The deadline for speaker submissions is February 6.

"It's great to see Redis still growing after 5 years, and the community becoming more populated with different voices and ideas at the same time,” said Salvatore Sanfilippo, inventor of Redis. “The London Redis Developers meeting was a good start and it is great to see that Rackspace is going to help to spread the word about Redis new features and developments by hosting the 2015 Redis Conference, this will be a conference more suited to communicate ideas not just between Redis developers but with the community of Redis users. I look forward to be in San Francisco in March."

The Redis Conference represents Rackspace’s ongoing commitment to open source databases.  Rackspace supports a broad portfolio of managed databases including the most popular Big Data, SQL and NoSQL databases.  This includes Redis, Hadoop, Spark, MongoDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Percona, and MariaDB.
