VMware Honors Rackspace for Accelerating Enterprises' Journey to the Cloud

Rackspace was honored to be named one of VMware’s Partner Innovation global award winners at its Partner Leadership Summit earlier this month.

For “outstanding performance and notable achievements” in 2017, VMware named Rackspace its global and Americas winner in the Integrate Public Clouds category.

This is the second time in three years VMware has honored our partnership; in 2015 VMware named Rackspace Americas Service Provider Partner of the Year.

For more than a decade, Rackspace has collaborated with VMware to deliver solutions to our joint customers that better enable them to transform IT into an innovative business model – one that allows them to bring optimized services, enhanced customer interactions, improved security and lower total cost of ownership to their organizations, as well as their own customers.

This wouldn’t be possible without our strategic relationship, which aligns on everything from vision to implementation. This award is a testament to our relationship and continued alignment with VMware’s overall vision for an app-driven, multi-cloud world.

To realize this vision, VMware Cloud Foundation, or VCF, has become a key component, helping us deliver a consistent infrastructure across clouds and allowing data and apps to interconnect, whether in a private or public environment. As one of the first cloud providers and early adopters of VCF, we fully support VMware’s vision of Cloud Foundation being the future standard for all VMware deployments and VM lifecycle management, be it in the cloud or customer data center.

In fact, our implementation of VMware Cloud Foundation has earned Rackspace another distinguished recognition, “VMware Cloud Verified,” which VMware has bestowed on only a select few of its partners to date.

In 2017, Rackspace’s focus on delivering VMware Cloud Foundation solutions, and our support of VMware’s software defined data center (SDDC) technology, through our Rackspace Private Cloud powered by VMware, has helped accelerate enterprises’ journey from their data centers to the cloud by transitioning on-premises workloads into a fully managed Rackspace-hosted VMware SDDC environment.

The next step in the journey to making an app-driven, multi-cloud world a reality though, is helping customers move resources closer to the edge. With our latest offering, Rackspace Private Cloud Everywhere, powered by VMware, we took our first steps to support customers on the edge with a secure, cost-effective software defined infrastructure. Customers can now have a fully managed VMware private cloud as a service to deploy their workloads wherever they choose — on or off premise in a data center of their choice, or across both in a hybrid model.

And by taking the operational burden off IT’s plate and allowing organizations to continue to leverage their existing application ecosystem including familiar VMware management tools and infrastructure such as VMware NSX, VMware vSAN, and VMware vRealize suite, our customers are finding much better economics in the cloud, with savings up to 39 percent vs DIY and a much easier migration path to the cloud overall.

Being named VMware’s 2017 Global Integrate Public Clouds Partner of the Year also highlights our close development and partnership with VMware to deliver managed services for VMware Cloudä on AWS later this year, a promise we made at VMworld last year. This will be yet another milestone in our relationship and ongoing journey to support customers at the edge, at the core, and in the cloud.
