Google Cloud names Rackspace its 2019 Cloud Specialization Partner of the Year for Infrastructure

I am honored to announce that Google Cloud has named Rackspace its 2019 Google Cloud Specialization Partner of the Year for Infrastructure.
I see this award as an affirmation of the Rackspace multi-year commitment to success through serving customers with Google Cloud solutions. We are extremely proud to have received recognition of our Google Cloud Partnership.
The award follows last year’s Google Cloud Global Cloud Migration Partner of the Year award win and is further validation of our ongoing disruptive, integrated, flexible approach to delivering next-generation cloud services.
“We’re delighted to recognize Rackspace's efforts on behalf of customers,” said Carolee Gearhart, Vice President, Worldwide Channel Sales at Google Cloud. “Rackspace has demonstrated strong expertise and results in cloud infrastructure over the past year, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to help customers succeed.”
Rackspace’s Google Support team’s 2019 Net Promoter Score (NPS) was a world-class 78. We also released our innovative Service Blocks for Google Cloud in 2019, called out by Gartner as a differentiator for Rackspace in the 2019 Magic Quadrant for Cloud Managed & Professional Services.
This award acknowledges a range of achievements within Rackspace and beyond during 2019. For example, we co-presented at Google Cloud Next '19 UK on the value of Google Cloud Certifications for partner organizations. Earlier in the year, we hosted an internal Google Cloud Takeover Day that combined Googlers and Rackers with the aim of fostering education and activation of our partnership. And of course, we’ve provided many new clients with expert guidance and support to maximize their Google Cloud Platform environments.
Using Google Cloud to Support Eagle Eye’s Digital Transformation
Recently, Google Cloud shared our collaborative work with Eagle Eye, a UK-based technology company transforming marketing by creating digital connections that enable personalized performance marketing in real-time through coupons, loyalty, apps, subscriptions and gift services.
Eagle Eye's rapid growth resulted in an unprecedented number of transactions, placing immense pressure on its technology infrastructure, and stressing the business to keep pace with customer demand. Rackspace evaluated the challenge and quickly recommended that Eagle Eye move to Google Cloud, to take advantage of the platform’s scalability, agility and competitive pricing.
Before beginning the deployment to Google Cloud, Rackspace provided a proof-of-concept environment, so Eagle Eye could trial its application. This was a success and Eagle Eye is now consolidating its technology estate across the globe, which will allow efficient management of its platform as it scales.
With Rackspace’s help, Eagle Eye can now process up to 3,000 API requests per second, which resulted in a 556% increase in the number of coupons redeemed during the last financial year. “Rackspace has been fundamentally key to that growth,” said Eagle Eye founder and CTO Steve Rothwell. “Without partners like Rackspace and Google, we could have spent years trying to work out how to build that infrastructure alone, to create that effect.”
According to Eagle Eye’s Head of Architecture, Max Kruger, a key element of the transformation was how Rackspace understands Google Cloud and client requirements alike: “The [Rackspace] team knows Google Cloud, they know the infrastructure and they know our questions before we ask them. They understand where we want to get to, and always come to us with guidance on how we can achieve it.”
We are always thrilled when companies fully realize the benefits of Google Cloud. This is a continuous goal we are totally committed to, which is why it’s a privilege and a pleasure to be recognized for such work by Google Cloud. And as a Google Cloud Premier Managed Services Partner, with engineers who have a combined 2.5 million hours of support and operation, we are well placed to architect, plan and operate Google Cloud environments for your company — wherever you are on your cloud journey.
