Dirk Elmendorf, Pat Condon, and Richard Yoo found Rackspace.com and launch the first Linux managed hosting products.

1999

VP of Customer Care David Bryce coins the term "Fanatical Support" to encapsulate our customer service philosophy.

2001

We present the first Fanatical Jacket Award, a literal straightjacket, to a Racker who provides outstanding customer service.

2006

We develop our 6 Core Values to embody our culture and commitment to being one of the world's greatest service companies.

2007

The Rackspace Foundation forms, with the mission to invest in our communities.

2008

We create Fanatiguy, the iconic representation of Rackers supporting our customers.

2008

Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For first recognizes the ways we attract top talent to serve customers better. (We'll go on to be included 5 times over the next 6 years.)

2009

Mosso launches Cloud Files and (in collaboration with Slicehost) Cloud Servers. These products are rebranded as The Rackspace Cloud.

2010

We founded OpenStack®, the open-source cloud platform, with NASA.

2012

We launch our next-generation public cloud platform on OpenStack. This allows our customers to enjoy Fanatical Support while building apps and sites on a cloud that's based on open standards.

2016

Rackspace became a private company in November 2016 as part of a transaction with Apollo Global Management.

Today

Our 6,000+ Rackers deliver Fanatical Support to hundreds of thousands of global customers.
