We believe in a merit–based company. Perceptions of good work should not win out over real good work. This is why we don’t place big importance on things like dress codes. Those are appearances, not the substance of what you do. Leadership is also earned in this company, not given. We have a relatively non-hierarchical company where we want everyone to talk with each other. Finally, part of that is tied to Fanatical Support, the idea that everyone gets their hands dirty and works together to share our problems.
Where we Work
I know what you’re thinking.. A tech headquarters in San Antonio, Texas? We could have built a shiny campus in any of a dozen glitzy suburbs that were courting us in Texas, California or North Carolina. Instead, we saw an opportunity to renovate an abandoned mall in a declining part of San Antonio where we could make a difference and in 2008 opened the “Castle” – have you taken the virtual tour of our HQ yet? (And yes everything IS bigger in Texas!)
How we Play
Everywhere you turn at castle, you’ll see whiteboards galore full of the great work going on in this building and the Rackers who make it happen. That’s not to say Rackers don’t know how to kick back and know how to have fun – whether that’s taking the slide down for a game of ping pong, engaging in a friendly nerf war, or taking part in the many Racker driven activities… We work very hard, but also play very hard too.
Where we Live
Deep in the heart of Texas, San Antonio is becoming an emerging technology hub, building on it’s reputation of having one of the most diverse cultures around. Take a walk down the riverwalk, visit the Alamo, or discover the local talent – San Antonio is waiting!
