Disaster can appear in many forms—theft, natural catastrophe, human error, malicious activity,
system failure. Whether man-made or natural, a disaster can negatively and significantly affect your company's
ability to operate, both short and long-term.
Unrecoverable data loss costs businesses millions of dollars a year. It is vital that a company have a process
in place by which, in the wake of any disaster, it can retain its data, maintain data integrity and continue
to practice business unimpeded and without loss.
With a Managed Backup solution from Rackspace, you can reduce your risk and help restore service and data as
quickly and completely as possible—an important part in ensuring business continuity.
Effects of Unrecoverable Data Loss
It has been proven statistically that in a post disaster scenario, more than 50% of Small and Medium Businesses
do not ever recover from the loss of data and information related to business continuity. A total loss of data
to a large corporate entity is of much greater significance and can have a direct bearing not only on the future
operations of the business, but also on the economy as a whole.
How it Works
We have partnered with the industry's top experts to provide all the components you need to create a flexible
and robust backup solution for any configuration, from a single server to a corporate e-commerce cluster.
Rackspace manages the entire solution, including the initial setup and configuration, to tracking failures and
even changes to the configuration. Data backups are performed off of your server and onto tape media as opposed
to a separate drive. Managed Backup Technicians are available 24x7x365 to perform data restores, configuration
changes and answer all your backup questions.
Performing a Data Restore
Restores are top priority for our certified Backup Technicians. Once a request for a file/directory restore has
been made, a technician begins restoring the data immediately. The time to completion will vary, depending on
how much information needs to be restored. A 200MB file will take approximately five (5) minutes to restore to
the server.
Why Managed Backup?
Backups can be made to the hard drive on your server, but should you run into any hardware or software failures,
retrieving the information from your drive can be impossible. Managed Backup stores the data on separate tape
media not located on the server, so if your hardware does fail, the information can be restored without additional
problems.
