What is an Object in Cloud Files?

An “object” is the basic storage entity that represents the “files” you store in your Cloud Files account. When you upload data to Cloud Files the data is stored as-is (no compression or encryption).

Objects also support "metadata" which are key/value pairs of custom information that you can associate with the object. For instance, you may want to add custom "tags" to any images you upload such as a photo-album name, the date the picture was taken, etc.

You can store any number of objects within a container.
