Email for Microsoft Surface
RE: Email for Microsoft Surface
We currently do not have specific instructions for setting up Rackspace Email on the Surface. I'll add this to my list of articles to create. I'll have to do some testing on the actual tablet itself, so this could take some time. I'll be sure to email you when I have some instructions ready.

Sorry for the late reply and thank you for the info. We're trying to gather a few screen shots from this device and work some minor kinks. It's taken longer than we like, but we'll have it soon. Glad it worked out for you!

RE: I'm having difficulty syncing
Sorry to hear you're having some trouble syncing your mail. IMAP is pretty straight forward and though I'm not familiar with the DroidX, I can't imagine the User Interface would be that much different.
Have you tried the following instructions? http://www.rackspace.com/knowledge_center/article/setting-up-rackspace-email-on-your-android

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Rackspace email. In order for you calendar to sync with your iPhone, you'll need to use Mobile Sync. You'll need to add a Mobile Sync license and then proceed with the setup instructions. Both articles can be found here:

The Mobile Sync for iPhone, iPad, and iPod definitely works, but I'm not entirely too positive that Mobile Sync will collaborate with Thunderbird. There's no reason that it shouldn't, but I would recommend contacting support so they can further investigate.
A license for mobile sync? I
RE: A license for mobile sync? I
Indeed you do have to have a license assigned to your email address. Syncing for calendars and contacts for your mobile device won't work for IMAP. Have the administrator of your account assign a license for you.
How about normal calendar
RE: How about normal calendar
Is your company using Rackspace Email or Exchange? Earlier you noted that you were trying to setup Rackspace Email. OWA is the web interface for Exchange. Regardless of what product you're using you'll need an Activesync (mobile sync) license for your calendar to sync up with your devices and email clients.
I think we're using Exchange.

Is the activesync license

At this point, it would be best to contact our support team at (888)850-3994. They'll have to get some more details from you to further investigate your issue.

Outlook 2013 - set up
I'm using Outlook 2013, and have gone through all of the steps to setting up an IMAP account. When I test the settings, it shows the "Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP) as being completed, but when it tries to send a test email msg, it says the "operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP server". I've tried both the IMAP and IMAP w/ssl settings and get same message. I even tried setting it up on POP3. Same thing. It's apparently letting me sign into the account, but won't let me send emails from same. Help!

Mobile sync and active sync currently work on our environments (MEX and RSE) and is independent of Outlook 2013. It will work on all Windows, Android, And IOS devices.

We also need to investigate how it is going to impact performance in the environment. We do not have an ETA but we will make our customers aware of any new and exciting changes as soon as possible.
Alto Integration
re: Alto
It does sound like all Alto should need is the info in this article - choose IMAP or POP3 (I'd recommend IMAP if you can), plug in the right settings, and use your email address as the username. If it gives you trouble from there, we might be able to help with a specific error message, but you'd be more likely to get a successful resolution from Alto's support.
