Setting Up Mobile Sync For Webmail (iPhone & iPad)

The following article below will get your Rackspace Email account setup with Mobile Sync on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Mobile Sync will not only sync your email, but also your contacts and calendar events in real time. Let's take a look at the following steps below to get you going:

Note: Your device must be a 3G, 3Gs, and with a 4.0+ iOS.
Note: Be sure your admin has assigned you a Webmail Sync License before proceeding.

  1. On the main Home sceren, tap the Settings icon on your iPhone.

  1. After tapping your Settings icon, you'll Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Add Account then Microsoft Exchange.

  1. The Exchange setup screen will open; you'll then enter the following information:
  • Email - Enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@mydomain.com), using all lowercase letters.
  • Domain - Leave this field blank
  • Username - Enter in your entire email address again.
  • Password - Enter in the password for your email account.
  • Description - Enter a descriptive name for your account (e.g., My Work Account). This description will be visible only to you.

Note: the device will attempt to verify the account. You may receive an "Unable to Verify Certificate message," go ahead and Tap the Accept button.

  1. Next, tap the Server field, and enter mobilesync.emailsrvr.com in the Server address field. If confirmed, you'll check marks next to every field.

  1. Tap the ON/OFF buttons to select which information you would like to synchronize and then tap the Save button when finished.

Note: Your iPhone may take a moment to sync all your information depending on how much data you have.

Will not work with my phone?

Hey Ronald,

Without much information to go off of, you may not have an webmail sync license assigned to your email address. Please make sure your admin has assigned an webmail sync license to your email account. This is usually the case since the process is pretty straight forward. I'd recommend having your admin call into support to check on this for you.

All contacts synced easily. Calendar-which is what I really wanted-isn't showing up. Any ideas? Also, am I correct in assuming that distribution lists don't transfer? Thanks for your help

Hey Dave,

Hmm..not too sure why your calendar wouldn't sync? You made sure that your sync calendar option is On once you're device was verified, correct? Distribution list don't sync up unfortunately. If your distro list was made server side there's a possibility it might have, but most of the time they don't. If you're still having problems syncing, remove the account and try again; otherwise, call into our support staff so they can test on their end to make sure everything is correct.

Rae

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried removing the account and re-installing. Nothing seemed to change--still getting the contacts and nothing else. I'll try and call support tomorrow.

When I go my to mail on my phone it always shuts down and I can't look in it. How do I change it? I have an iPhone and I was able to check my mail until yesterday when I updated my phone. I have tried the passwords and that doesn't help

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Jenny. Have you tried restarting your phone? Upgrades can sometimes be a bit buggy and cause issues with other apps. Try restarting your phone or remove your account and setting up your mail account again with the instructions above. If you have any other problems, Jenny, please call into our support line at (888)850-3994.

If you want to use other Mail providers http://www.smtp-pop3.com is a good aourde for SMTP and POP3 Settings.

Hey Dale,

Thank you for the additional info. As a reminder, we can only offer direct support to customers who are using Rackspace settings.

Hi I have changed the server name to the above mentioned mobilesync.emailsrvr.com but it still can't verify my account. Why?

You'll want to make sure that your admin has a Webmail Sync license attached to your mail account, first. If that isn't the case, then you won't want to be using MobileSync settings.

If you call our support line or access live support chat from our home page, a tech should be able to help you check your settings to see what may be going wrong.
