Hosted Microsoft Lync at Rackspace Guide
Hosted Microsoft Lync is an instant messaging and video capable client for use with Rackspace’s Hosted Exchange 2013 email platform, and is a replacement for Microsoft Instant Messenger.
Depending on the size of your organization and your IT infrastructure, the rollout of the Rackspace Hosted Lync service to your users will vary. The overall deployment plan has three basic categories, and this article is designed to help you decide the best roll-out method for your environment.
Setup Lync DNS Records
To ensure full functionality and configuration, you will need to create two different kinds of entries on your DNS server. If you have an internal DNS you will need to set these records up on your Internal DNS as well. For detailed instructions, read the article Hosted Lync DNS Records.
Please note that if you are a Rackspace Hosted Exchange customer, then these settings are in addition to what you may currently have for Hosted Exchange Autodiscover.
Activate Lync for users in the User Control Panel
You can enable Lync for your entire domain or only for selected users. Click on the Exchange mailbox account, and then select the check box to enable Lync.

Hosted Microsoft Lync is only available with our Hosted Exchange 2013 email. Administrators have the ability to choose which specific users have access to Lync through our Email Control Panel.
