Rackspace Email Server Settings
Below is a list of server settings for setting up other email clients. To use a secure connection, be sure to use the settings marked with "SSL."

Not too sure what the issue is. Sounds like you're trying to receive mail to your scanner using the settings listed in the article. I would try using a non-ssl setting and see if that works. Firewalls have been known to interfere with printers and scanners when they're connecting to a web server; just something to be aware of. The best thing to do would be to refer to your scanners owner manual for this subject.
