Rackspace Cloud Essentials 1 - Rackspace Mobile App

Now that you are familiar with the Control Panel and know how to get Fanatical Support through all of our available channels, let's introduce you to an alternative method to using the Cloud Control Panel.  The Rackspace Mobile Applications allow you to manage your assets on the go, with most of the same functionality of the Control Panel by using the Cloud Servers and Cloud Files APIs.

There are iOS and Android versions of the mobile application available.

They differ in some ways but share several key features.

General Features

  • Manage multiple accounts
  • Passcode lock application
  • Custom API endpoints to allow the app to be used with any OpenStack cloud

Cloud Servers

  • List all Cloud Servers on an account
  • View server details like IP address and server status
  • Create or delete servers
  • Resize or rebuild servers
  • Reboot servers
  • Reset a server's root password
  • Manage backup schedules

Cloud Files

  • List and view Cloud Files containers
  • View details for files
  • Download files

The iOS application is a bit more full-featured at this time, offering detailed server status information, more file management, and the ability to launch an installed SSH application to connect to a server. Development is active on both versions, however, so look for new functions to be added as time progresses.

Both apps require your Rackspace Cloud API key in order to access your account.
