Using Cloud Files as a backup is straightforward. Users can achieve them in various ways.
-
The first step to backup however is to plan the backup schedule and identify critical resources
-
Next step is to collect all the backup data in a well known location or directory (locally) with sub directories as needed.
-
This step is optional, and will save on storage, bandwidth costs and increase security. Compress the content of the backup directory with security and encryption.
-
Now create a container on Cloud files and upload the contents of the backup directory on a regular schedule. Refer to Uploading content to a container using the Cloud Files user interface or Uploading content to a container using a tool like Fire Uploader
-
Write a program using one of the client bindings ( C#, Java, Python, Php or Ruby) to do this automatically according to the backup plan.
