How can I use Cloud Files for data backup?

Using Cloud Files as a backup is straightforward. Users can achieve them in various ways.

  1. The first step to backup however is to plan the backup schedule and identify critical resources
  2. Next step is to collect all the backup data in a well known location or directory (locally) with sub directories as needed.
  3. This step is optional, and will save on storage, bandwidth costs and increase security. Compress the content of the backup directory with security and encryption.
  4. Now create a container on Cloud files and upload the contents of the backup directory on a regular schedule. Refer to Uploading content to a container using the Cloud Files user interface or Uploading content to a container using a tool like Fire Uploader
  5. Write a program using one of the client bindings ( C#, Java, Python, Php or Ruby) to do this automatically according to the backup plan.
