    Rackspace Adds Chief Information Officer and new Sales VP to its San Antonio Team

    Rackspace Hosting, the world’s leader in the hosting and cloud computing industry, announced the company has expanded its leadership team, naming Steve Mills as Chief Information Officer and Pat Cathey as Vice President of Enterprise Sales.


    SAN ANTONIO –March 1, 2010 – Rackspace® Hosting (NYSE:RAX), the world’s leader in the hosting and cloud computing industry, announced the company has expanded its leadership team, naming Steve Mills as Chief Information Officer and Pat Cathey as Vice President of Enterprise Sales. Both positions are newly created to support Rackspace market growth.
    As Chief Information Officer, Mills will be responsible for all technology operations, operational metrics and interface with suppliers and resource providers in the IT area. He will report to Mark Roenigk, Chief Operating Officer.

    Mills came to Rackspace from T-Mobile USA, where he was vice president of enterprise systems, a position he held from July 2006.  He was also vice president of technical operations for T-Mobile HotSpot from 2003 to 2006. Mills’ experience includes director for technology delivery for Texas Online, the state’s eGovernment portal while at BearingPoint, Inc. in 2002 and 2003. He previously held positions with start-ups Alex eBanking and Berkom USA as well as pcOrder.com, and E-Systems.

    The Mississippi native has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi, an M.S. in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University, an M.E. in Systems Engineering from Texas Tech University and a Ph.D in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University.

    Pat Cathey, Rackspace’s new vice president of enterprise sales will join the Rackspace Enterprise Services division. Cathey’s arrival will strengthen Rackspace’s growing presence in enterprise. Cathey will report to Taylor Rhodes, vice president and general manager of enterprise services.
    Pat Cathey came to Rackspace after seven years as president of Avnet Electronics Embedded Solutions, based in Arizona. Previous to Avnet, Cathey was vice president of worldwide strategic alliances and Asia Pacific Operations for Web Gain in 2001-2002.  Cathey also held the position of senior vice president of global sales and field operations for EC Net and vice president of sales for Arrow Electronics.  He also held key executive sales and business unit executive positions with IBM Corporation from 1983-1998 and served in the U.S. Army from 1977-1982.  Cathey was awarded a BBA from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Puget Sound.
