Rackspace Honored by Frost & Sullivan for Customer Service Innovation
Managed Hosting Leader Receives Award for Fanatical Support
SAN ANTONIO - April 23, 2002 - Rackspace Managed Hosting, the leading provider of managed hosting services, today announced that it has been selected to receive Frost & Sullivan's Market Engineering Award for Customer Service Innovation. The award is given each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in customer service innovation within their industry. The honor from Frost & Sullivan pays tribute to Rackspace's strong focus on customer experience and Fanatical Support™.
One of the criteria in which Frost & Sullivan believes Rackspace to have excelled is in "imitation by competitors," and Frost & Sullivan judged Rackspace's often-imitated customer portal to be "a shining example of customer service innovation in Web hosting that has benefited the entire industry."
"While researching the U.S. Web Hosting Market, one of the things that struck me was the respect Rackspace had from its competitors," said Jarad Carlton, analyst for Frost & Sullivan. "It is one thing to claim that you have great customer service in the SME hosting market, but hearing that from direct competitors puts the claim into an entirely different light. I believe that the Rackspace reputation for good customer service is a very important factor to its continued success in the hosting market."
To determine its award recipient, the Frost & Sullivan analyst team tracked all customer service innovation and new system implementation in the industry. This was accomplished through interviews with market participants, extensive secondary research and customer surveys. Competitors were then compared and ranked for relative position. The company chosen to receive the award is determined to hold the number one industry ranking.
"Rackspace's commitment to service is our top priority," said Graham Weston, Rackspace chief executive officer and co-chairman. "All calls to Rackspace are answered by a live person, technical support experts are on standby 24/7 and every customer is assigned a dedicated account manager and Fanatical Support team for the duration of their relationship with Rackspace. The Frost and Sullivan award is recognition of the customer service excellence we strive for every single day and we are honored to have received this distinction."
With more staff devoted entirely to customer service than to any other function at Rackspace, the company's own brand of Fanatical Support™ earned it its place as the only managed hosting company in Computerworld's 100 Emerging Companies to Watch in 2002. In April 2002, Rackspace was voted the Top Managed Host in the Web Hosting Industry Directory Limited's Web Host Awards.
Rackspace pioneered managed hosting as a completely outsourced alternative to colocation and virtual hosting. The company announced profitability in March 2001 and has continued to grow, attracting over 3,500 customers from around the globe, including such high-profile clients as Ironman Triathlon and Columbia House.
