At Rackspace, we have a long-standing commitment to support the communities around us. We're known for delivering Fanatical Support® to our customers and we deliver that kind of support to communities where we live, work and play. So much so that we started the Rack Gives Back Program to support the community in the form of grants, hosting services and employee volunteer programs.

Here are just a few of the organizations and events we've worked with:

Organizations We Have Worked With

Christmas Party at the Children's Shelter - 12.21.07
The Children's Shelter is a private, non-profit, nationally accredited corporation that has been providing services to San Antonio and Bexar County since 1901. The mission of The Children's Shelter is to "Strengthen our community by providing safety, well-being and lasting families for children." Rackspace had 75 volunteers give their time to throw the children a Christmas party that included food, arts and crafts, juggling elves, the Spurs Coyote, a magic show and Santa giving out gifts to all the children.

Coronado Escobar Elementary School - 8.11.07
Coronado Escobar Elementary is the oldest school in the Edgewood Independent School District. The school hadn't had any cosmetic work in almost 30 years, so Rackspace took it upon itself to completely 'flip it' when 87 Rackers created a community garden, painted hallways, refurnished and painted the teacher's lounge, setup 12 brand new Dell computers, donated sports equipment and school supplies.

Girls Inc. Summer - July 2007
Girls Incorporated of San Antonio is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated®, a non-profit organization that inspires all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold. Women from Rackspace donated their time over the summer to teach various courses for young girls to help them succeed in school and business.

JDFR Walk to Cure Diabetes - 10.13.07
The JDRF mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. One Hundred and seventeen Rackers walked a mile and a half around La Cantera to raise funds and awareness for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Neighborhood Place - 3.24.07
Family Service Association of San Antonio has been building strong families since 1903. It is the oldest human service agency in San Antonio dedicated to helping children, seniors, and families in need. Rackspace helped their West-side Neighborhood Place by sending 100 Rackers to help transform the former library by painting, donating and installing library-quality bookshelves and children's books; setting up a computer lab by donating and installing 14 new computers from HP with a projector and screen; painting the outdoor tool shed, stocking it with tools, installing shelves, and inventorying and labeling tools; and painting exterior building walls, doors, and flowerpots, and donating $10,000.

San Antonio Food Bank - 5.17.07
The San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) is a non-profit organization that serves as a clearinghouse by receiving and storing truckloads of donated food, produce, and other grocery products. SAFB distributes these items in manageable quantities to approximately 400 service agencies that help people in need. Rackspace supports the SAFB in various ways throughout the year, but this day, 75 Rackers volunteer to arrange hundreds of food boxes and donated about $6,000.

St. Peter St. Joseph's Children's Home - 9.29.07
St. Peter-St. Joseph Children's Home was originally founded as an orphanage by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 1891. Today St. PJ's is both a home to children who have suffered as victims of sexual and emotional abuse, neglect, poverty and broken homes and it is a community counseling and service center for families in crisis.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - 3.31.07
The mission of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. Rackers donated time and money to walk or run in the 9th Anniversary of this San Antonio event.

Valero MS 150 Bike to the Beach - 10.20.07
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. The Valero MS 150 Bike Tour is a two-day cycling adventure from San Antonio to Corpus Christi that raises funds to help people living with MS. Rackspace had 40 riders and 15 volunteers who raised more than $19,000.

Team Building Projects
Individual departments at Rackspace also volunteer on their own, usually as team building projects. Some various team projects that were completed in 2007 include The San Antonio Youth Center, the Seton Home, Roy Maas and the Brighton School. San Antonio Youth Center

New Community Center Called 'Jewel for the West Side'
