We just released Webmail 6.3 into beta. Webmail 6.3 has several speed and performance enhancements (we focus on speed and performance in every release now) and many new features. Features include:
1. Calendar Reminders
- Improved reminder alert that now includes dismiss and snooze
- Missed reminder alerts will appear the next time you login to webmail
- Reminder alerts can now be sent via text message (SMS)
- Reminder alerts can now be sent to an alternate email address
2. Draft Improvements
- Forwarding a draft no longer deletes the draft
3. Spell Check
- Now includes a personal dictionary that you can add words to
- Now shows the number of misspelled words
- Now checks spelling for all of the languages we support
4. Contacts
- Added option for how to display name (”first last” or “last, first”)
- Double clicking a row now opens the edit contact form
5. Message List
- You can now use arrow keys to move up and down the message list
My two favorite new features are text message reminders and the ability to add words to my spell check dictionary. I think I’ll blog in more detail soon about text message reminders.
We plan to release Webmail 6.3 to all customers next week.

Beta Launch: Webmail 6.3 Featuring Text Message Reminders
I love the new text messaging alerts but my carrier (Cellcom – http://www.cellcom.com) is not included in the list. I did however type in my text messaging email address in the alternate email field but it comes in a bunch of text messages because my carrier only supports up to 160 characters. I would love to see an area where I can customize the layout of the email using global variables. Thoughts?
Jacob, we will absolutely add Cellcom to the list. One of our biggest challenges with this feature is generating a complete list of providers. Look for Cellcom to be added early next week.

Mike,
Any way we can get an update on where webmail.us stands with over the air sync of a calendar with blackberry?
Thanks
Leo
Also an over the air sync to a Treo (650)
Thanks
Ward
Can we see about adding the Regional Wireless Company Centennial Wireless so that we can do text messages too? Centennial isn’t exactly a small wireless service as they cover most Louisiana, Michigan, Indiana just to name a few states they have service in.

Any consideration would be appreciated.
I am loving the new text message alerts! Thanks for adding Cellcom!
The only suggestion I have would be the ability to set a default text message phone number under the admin page. (eg. If text alert number read ” it would go to that number or you could change an individual reminder to go to a different number.
Maybe this is because I work for a wireless carrier but I have like 3 phones and I have found the need to change which number I receive my alerts on. As is, I have to go to each appointment and change it and then change it back. Having a default under admin would allow me to change it in one spot and be done.
Also, is there a way to batch convert all of my appointments to private? We are trying the shared calendar system and would like to start out with all previous appointments being private. Thanks.
Sorry about that last post. I found what I was looking for! Are you going to have Free, Tentative and Busy added at some time?
Yes, definitely at some point.
Is there any update on Public/Shared Folders like there is in MS Exchange?
Ben,
Not yet. We plan to move in that direction but not for several months.
Is there any plans to add a feature that would allow you to right click on an email message to set up a reminder? I have several tasks that I need to follow up on and the ability to right click on an email, set a follow up date and have a pop-up or subsequent email, text message or some type of additional reminder would dramatically help me in my daily tasks.
Great suggestion! We recently added right-click functionality to the webmail interface for Rackspace Email and are always looking at ways to improve productivity. I’ll make sure our product team investigates this. Also you can always provide your ideas directly to our team through Idea Central (http://www.rackspace.com/email_hosting/ideas).
