Cloud Security Alliance prepares for launch

Confirmit Announces 118 Million Completed Interviews in 2008
19th March, 2009. Confirmit today announced the highest number of completed interviews on its platform to date, with 118 million interviews taking place in 2008. This figure brings the total number of completed interviews on Confirmit to over 430 million in the past seven years.

Gartner claims cloud computing still pioneering
February 3rd, 2009 - While it's been forecast that cloud computing is set to boom around the world, Gartner is predicting that adoption of the services could take years to become mainstream.
The IT advisory firm said it could take up to 7 years for cloud computing to reach "mainstream critical mass and commodisation," according to Information Week.

Microsoft's BizSpark to create IT jobs worldwide
February 2nd 2009 - Microsoft is set to create IT jobs around the world when it opens its BizSpark business acceleration programme.
Start-up businesses in Ireland's mid-west, which was recently hit hard by Dell's choice to cut 1,900 jobs, will be offered the chance to take part in BizSpark.
BizSpark gives start-up software companies access to current Microsoft development tools and production licenses.
Data centre awards draw nominations from all over Europe

In a blog entry from Monday 15th December, researcher Elad Sharf at web security firm Websense posted that users who search for data-compression software "winrar" on Google were returned a sponsored result for a "spyware free" version of the application.

Gartner survey reveals 90% of organisations set to grow SaaS
December 3rd, 2008 - A new survey from analyst firm Gartner has revealed that 90 per cent of organisations plan to grow their use of Software as a Service (SaaS) over the coming year.

Data centre complex to be built in Inverness

ISVs Making the Move to SaaS
19th November 2008 - Almost half of all Independent Software Vendors (ISV's) are moving to Software as a Service (SaaS) to deliver their products, a survey by Rackspace Hosting has revealed.
The survey showed that 48 per cent said they either already had a SaaS strategy and products in place or are developing SaaS applications to run alongside existing solutions. Only 15 per cent said they still had no clear SaaS policy defined.

Intel to sell half its stake in virtualisation leader, VMware
November 5th, 2008 - Intel is set to sell half its stake in VMware, the forerunner in the virtualisation software market.
No reason has yet been given for the sale but the announcement follows shortly after the world's leading chipmaker sold one million of its 9.5 million shares in VMware at the end of October.
Cisco Systems and EMC Corp received 500,000 shares apiece at $26.52 in the agreement.
