enStratus and Rackspace Team Together To Deliver Governance and Automation

enStratus and Rackspace together provide robust, secure and scalable cloud infrastructure. We deliver governance for the cloud through a patent-pending security architecture and a powerful management console with the following key capabilities:

  • Automation – The most robust automation available today for Rackspace. enStratus automates the recovery, backup and scaling of your cloud infrastructure to meet demand and match your service level requirements.
  • Key Management and Encryption – Our patent-pending security architecture holds all cloud credentials outside the cloud provider with automated encryption
  • User Management – Granular, fully customizable role-based security provides the right level of control for your development, QA, business or partner teams.
  • Financial Controls – Track and manage costs by customer or project by assigning billing codes with hard and soft spending caps.
  • API – The enStratus API allows you to extend, integrate or customize enStratus for your specific requirements.
  • Private and Public Clouds – Manage your Rackspace, private or hybrid clouds with one unified management solution.
  • SaaS or On-Premise Option – Leverage enStratus as a hosted software solution or deploy on-premise to meet your unique needs.

enStratus is the only complete cloud management application for enterprise and software-as-a-service applications. Based in Minneapolis, MN, enStratus serves hundreds of organizations worldwide.

enStratus™ creates a bridge into public cloud infrastructures such as The Rackspace Cloud™ for enterprise IT by enabling IT to leverage existing policies and procedures with the public cloud. Our patent-pending security architecture enables you to keep your authentication and encryption credentials off of your public cloud servers except when they are needed to perform vital functions. enStratus provides:

  • User-management across multiple accounts and departments. With a single click, remove a user’s access from the console and all servers in your public cloud infrastructure.
  • Ability to play different roles in different accounts.
  • Ability to enforce two-factor authentication into cloud servers.
  • Automated encryption from the file system to SSL certificate management to encrypted, cross-cloud backups with disaster recovery.
  • Automated backup rotation, with four different levels of backups.
  • Monitoring of cloud resources with automated recovery of failed resources.
  • Alerts on a variety of adverse events.
  • Auto-scaling leveraging customizable utilization metrics.
  • Support for Rackspace Cloud servers, images, Cloud Files, and Rackspace CDN.

The enStratus console divides into three core functions:

  • User Management
  • Cloud Resource Management
  • Application Clustering

The user management console enables you to define user roles as well as set up and maintain your user base. Because of the multi-tenant enStratus architecture, a given user may login with a single set of credentials, yet have different access rights to different accounts. The cloud resource management console provides control over the raw resources that comprise your Rackspace Cloud infrastructure. Launch servers, image existing servers, give users shell access to running servers, and set up your CDN all through this interface. Finally, the enStratus application clustering console enables you to define your deployment architecture, including desired availability levels, security profile, auto-scaling, and auto-recovery parameters. enStratus leverages this information to manage production systems deployed into the Rackspace Cloud.

enStratus Console

Understand the health of your cloud infrastructure through the enStratus console. The console displays alerts according to severity as well as status from Rackspace and other general health statistics.

User Management

Control who has access to enStratus, your Rackspace infrastructure, and your servers through the enStratus user manager. When a person leaves your company, remove all access through a single interface.

Server Management

Identify the servers in running in the Rackspace Cloud and manage their operation. Terminate servers, review server state information, build images, and control shell access through this simple UI.

Server Info

Gain insight into the operation of individual servers through the server detail panel. The panel provides real-time metrics and configuration data for each server.

Shell Access

Define users with access to specific servers and the rights they should have through the shell access panel. enStratus hardens servers against intrusion and enables control of shell access.

Image Management

Launch servers and organize custom images through the machine images interface.
