Multi-tenant clouds have limitations. Inconsistent performance, unpredictable behavior, and unscheduled maintenance windows make scaling hard.
That's why so many successful, big Internet applications move back to colocation. Dedicated single-tenant environments deliver consistent and predictable performance and availability, but you lose elasticity and utility billing. Neither choice is ideal.
OnMetal™ Cloud Servers combine the consistent performance and economy of colocation with the elasticity of the cloud.
OnMetal Cloud Servers are single-tenant, bare-metal systems that you can:
You'll get the simplicity and performance of colocation, the high availability of single-tenant servers, and the agility of the cloud—all in one place.
Stop overspending on infrastructure to compensate for multi-tenant performance limitations.
Get the compute and I/O power of single-tenant, bare-metal servers.
Engineered for high reliability: No moving parts on the server chassis mean reduced failure rates.
We don't offer infrastructure without service. Your application needs more than just a high-performance, reliable cloud infrastructure. Achieving great business outcomes requires knowing how to run the most demanding workloads in a cost-effective way. That's why every account includes services and expertise, along with a high-performance, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure.
Pricing is a combination of infrastructure and service level.
Choose the service level that's right for your business needs (you can also change service levels as your business needs change):
If you prefer to do the labor yourself, we'll help you get set up and be there whenever you need us. We'll provide architecture and security guidance, code development assistance, and launch managers—all with 24x7x365 support. Pricing is a total of raw infrastructure + the Managed Infrastructure rate, with a minimum service charge of $50/mo across all Cloud Servers (virtual and bare metal).
Let us help manage your entire cloud ops for you. Including all the benefits of Managed Infrastructure, plus monitoring, OS maintenance/patching, application maintenance, and more—we'll do the heavy lifting for you. Pricing is a total of raw infrastructure + the Managed Operations rate, with a minimum service charge of $500/mo across all Cloud Servers (virtual and bare metal).
Including the benefits of both Managed Infrastructure and Managed Operations: SysOps, we'll also automate your application environment by treating your infrastructure as code. Pricing is a total of raw infrastructure + the Managed Operations rate (without minimum service charge) + a $2,500/mo flat fee. This service level option automatically qualifies for a volume discount on Cloud Server usage.
Service level rates and minimums apply only when you use Cloud Servers.
Not all performance-hungry workloads are the same. The key to scalability is using hardware optimized for specific workloads. OnMetal servers are engineered to run huge internet applications.
CentOS, CoreOS, Debian, Fedora, and Ubuntu base images are currently available.
* The Managed Infrastructure service level has a minimum monthly service charge of $50 across all cloud servers, virtual as well as bare metal.
** The Managed Operations: SysOps service level has a minimum monthly service charge of $500 across all cloud servers, virtual as well as bare metal.
*** The Managed Operations: DevOps Automation service level has a flat monthly fee of $5000/month, with no minimum monthly service charge.
Managing cloud infrastructure can be challenging and time consuming. With managed cloud, we handle the complexity for you. Whether we run your cloud operations for you, or just help whenever you need us—we make the cloud simple.
We’ve all been trained to think of the cloud as generic virtual machines on demand. VMs have had their decade. The future ‘Cloud’ will be built with containers deployed across bare-metal servers provisioned via API. We believe Rackspace’s OnMetal service is the future of Infrastructure as a Service.
