Twestival Austin – The First Well Is In!

On 12 February 2009, 202 cities around the world held Twestivals, bringing together the Twitter[1] community for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water[2].

$250,000 USD were raised to provide clean drinking water to over 17,000 people.  The Rackspace Cloud[3][4] is proud to have been a part of Twestival, Austin[5], where $8886 was raised, and a proud sponsor of the event along with our sister company, JungleDisk[6].

Here’s the video of the first well being completed in Ethiopia:

And if you couldn’t make it, here’s a video composite of the event in Austin:

Cheers to the Internet, the Twitter communities that support non-profits like charity:water, and more events that bring techies together for a good cause like this. Let’s raise a glass (of water) to that.
