The Rackspace Cloud Servers team is please to announce the availability of new Windows Server 2012 images containing SQL Server 2012 Web and Standard editions for our next generation Cloud Servers customers.

Last month we talked about past, present and future of Cloud Sites and touched upon some of the features you can expect in the future. Today, we are excited to announce that Rackspace Cloud Sites now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2012. A list of the latest versions of all software supported by Cloud Sites is available here.

We have been getting tons of requests from developers and DBAs about SQL Server 2012 (previously known as “Denali”). Today we are pleased to announce the availability of Microsoft SQL Server 2012, in Web and Standard Editions, on the Rackspace Cloud. We are making this available in Cloud Servers, including Cloud Servers with a Managed Service Level.

Starting today you can launch a fully licensed copy of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition right from your Cloud Server control panel or through the Cloud Servers API.
