When there are rumors of a new Apple product, the world waits with bated breath. Yesterday was no different as Apple, after wide speculation, announced the new iPad. gdgt, a Rackspace Cloud Sites customer, was able to support the big announcement without any hiccup whatsoever. While other blogs were cratering because of the massive amounts of traffic, the gdgt blog remained stable and fast, exemplifying the power of hosting at Rackspace.

Today we have released an important update to the Rackspace app for iPhone™, iPod Touch™, and iPad™.  This new version gives you the power to manage your Cloud Load Balancers on the go.

Since we delivered our first Cloud Servers iPhone app in September 2009, a lot has changed. Tens of millions of iPhones were sold in 2010 and it seemed everyone wanted an iPad for Christmas.

If you read Mike Mayo’s latest post about developing for the iPad, you’ll know that we have been patiently waiting for the release of the iPad. Our app was actually approved prior to the official release of the iPad making us the first Cloud Provider with an app on the iPad.
