So far in this blog series, we’ve talked about Hybrid Clouds, some of the benefits that Hybrid architectures can bring to a cloud solution and how these benefits can be realized at Rackspace by using RackConnect™. Last week, we zoomed in on the flexibility hybrid can bring to a small business that may be budget constrained, but still needs to grow at the same time.
Rackspace is honored to be named a winner of the 2012 F5 Agility Award. The annual awards, given to customers and partners of F5 Networks, recognize creativity, value and innovation with F5 application delivery solutions. Rackspace is one of three companies to take home an Agility Award this year.

In that time, we’ve learned that hybrid hosting offers some unique and powerful features. It creates a “canvas” upon which our customers can build out innovative architectures and solutions. It has also helped many of them achieve significant and meaningful results for their businesses.
In just a few short years, cloud computing has transformed from an interesting buzzword into the future of the Internet. Rackspace has been on the leading edge of the cloud computing revolution, helping businesses and professionals get real value from the promise of the cloud. We’ve put together this Top 10 list of the most common cloud computing use cases illustrating our point of view on where we’ll see the cloud having the biggest impact in 2012.

A year ago, to the day actually, we announced general availability of RackConnect®, the Rackspace® Hosting solution to integrate dedicated and cloud hosting into a single solution. It’s hard to believe it’s been a full year since the launch, and we’ve been hard at work since then. We’ve seen adoption grow from a few customers to a significant portion of our customer base. We’ve seen RackConnect open up architectures and solutions that we hadn’t even dreamed of a year ago. And most importantly, we’ve listened to you about what works and what needs improvement.
The term “hybrid” can hold a different meaning from industry to industry. Generally speaking, it describes the combination of two things to make one. In the cloud computing industry, there are a series of technologies you can use to run your web environments, from cloud to dedicated. Users can have a hybrid environment at Rackspace by connecting Cloud Servers and dedicated servers via RackConnect™. Here is a fun illustration that highlights this technology in the simplest of terms.
Sometimes growth can be inconsistent and unpredictable – not ideal when trying to plan for traffic demands on your server. Leveraging the power of the Cloud with your dedicated servers has become a popular option for a growing number of Rackspace customers, thanks to scalability of the Cloud infrastructure.
