Using the Cloud Control Panel to manage your Cloud Databases is great for scenarios where your application has only a few databases or you don’t have a lot of automation needs. But what if you are responsible for tens or hundreds of databases? Maybe it’s because you manage them on behalf of your customers or offer services on top of Cloud Databases. In that case, using the Cloud Databases API is almost a requirement.
This month, we raised the curtain on the Rackspace open cloud and welcomed our customers into a new era of openness, choice and innovation. And now we’re taking that one step further by making Rackspace Cloud Monitoring available to everyone through Unlimited Availablity. Cloud Monitoring is a powerful tool that unlocks the value of the open cloud by letting customers monitor any cloud or infrastructure, whether it’s hosted in your datacenter or ours. It’s one easy solution to monitor all IT infrastructure from a single interface, regardless of vendor or location. Cloud Monitoring joins Cloud Servers powered by OpenStack and Cloud Databases as pillars of the Rackspace open cloud.
Speed and simplicity; it’s what technology hungry consumers want. Think about it: If I hear a song, I can download it on my smartphone immediately with a simple click or two. That’s incredibly powerful. It takes just seconds. We no longer have the time nor the patience to click through various navigation menus and wait several seconds after each click for results. We demand instant, real-time outcomes and anything less is, quite frankly, unacceptable.

When we set out on the journey to the open cloud 18 months ago, we knew our goals were ambitious. We wanted to build the Rackspace Cloud on OpenStack and, in the process, take OpenStack to the next level. We wanted to bring a truly open cloud computing solution to the world; and we knew it would take a tremendous amount of work.
The Mosso development team has been working hard to enhance the management interfaces and the provisioning system that power the Hosting Cloud. Today we’re announcing the launch of our new software and inviting our customers to check out the functionality it brings at beta.mosso.com. We’ve been testing and improving this release for a while and are now bringing into full deployment. (During this launch phase, everyone will have continued access to the old interfaces as they build familiarity with the new software.)
