Cloud Networks provides you the flexibility to create fully isolated single-tenant networks in the cloud. In May, we launched the ability for you to attach or detach networks from Next Generation Cloud Servers (Performance and Standard flavors) via the Rackspace API. Now, you have the same capability through the Rackspace Control Panel. The ability to attach and detach networks via the Control Panel gives you the flexibility to add and remove networks from a live and operational Cloud Server.
Rackspace Performance Cloud Servers are available now in our Dallas region. That means you can leverage our new breed of Cloud Servers built specifically for exceptional levels of application performance in each of our three US regions – North Virginia (IAD), Chicago (ORD) and, as of today, Dallas (DFW).
For the past two weeks, we’ve told you about how we engineered our new Performance Cloud Servers to deliver exceptional levels of application performance. We’ve told you that Performance Cloud Servers are built with 100 percent data center-grade solid-state disks (SSDs) and powerful Intel® Xeon® E5 processors, as much as 120 GB of memory and 40 gigabits per second of highly available network throughput to every host machine.
Last week, we launched Rackspace Performance Cloud Servers, a new breed of cloud servers built to deliver exceptional levels of application performance, and made them available in our Northern Virginia (IAD) region. Today, we’re expanding the reach of Performance Cloud Servers to our Chicago (ORD) and London (LON) regions.
This past week we had a special Cloud Office Hours, where we got to talk with Erik Carlin, the director of product in charge of our new Performance Cloud Servers. We recently made these 100 percent SSD and 10Gb Ethernet machines available in our data centers and have had tremendous interest from customers. I cover some of the highlights below, but this is going to be one Hangout that you don’t want to miss. Take a look at the entire video, embedded at the bottom of this post.
Our goal at Rackspace is to serve our customers so well that they will grow with us and never leave. We’re always looking for ways to reward long-term and high-volume customers. In that spirit, today we are launching a new loyalty program that offers savings on our cloud compute products. The essence of the program is simple: the more you use and the longer you stay, the more you save.
Performance. That’s a word I hear more and more as I meet with Rackspace customers. It’s what most of us strive for in business, and in life. We want things done faster, more precisely, and more reliably — from our morning coffee to our business projects and goals. The drive for performance, amid rising competition, pushes us to innovate. What used to take weeks now takes minutes.
The true value of a successful innovation is not always immediately evident. But then it spawns more innovation, and its performance grows exponentially. That’s as true in cloud computing as it was a century ago in auto making. When Ransom Olds and Henry Ford began building cars on assembly lines, the early models were good. But the succeeding models quickly got better — by orders of magnitude. They were far faster, more reliable, and more affordable.
