Yesterday was day two of the ZeroVM Design Summit. Day one mostly focused on the architecture and capabilities of ZeroVM itself; while day two examined integration with other technologies, particularly OpenStack Swift (the technology behind Rackspace Cloud Files).
A couple months ago we acquired the team behind ZeroVM, the lightweight open source application hypervisor. At that time we promised that more was coming soon – and now we have started to say what some of the plans are for this new technology.
Developers have been buzzing lately about how virtualization containers can boost scale while lowering costs. We are big fans of containers and the ways that they simplify the deployment and management of cloud applications. We think the next step is containerizing and virtualizing the application, not just the machine.
This month, we’re bringing you a series of free webinars to help you learn how a hybrid cloud approach can add agility, flexibility and speed-to-market for your organization.
ObjectRocket, the industrial strength MongoDB database-as-a-service company that we acquired in February, is now available in our Chicago data center. This means you can now use ObjectRocket as part of your Rackspace deployments.
The amazing thing about working in San Francisco is how fast things move. Companies spring up out of nowhere and, seemingly overnight, become a natural part of your daily working routine. Speed matters in this environment.
Jonathan Siegel is a repeat entrepreneur, angel investor, father of six and leader of Exceptional Cloud Services – Rackspace’s most recent acquisition.
We are excited to announce that we have acquired Exceptional Cloud Services and its suite of developer solutions, including error tracking and Redis-as-a-Service capabilities. This acquisition continues to enhance our toolset for developers deploying and managing applications on the open cloud.
This morning, we announced the acquisition of ObjectRocket.
Why did Rackspace acquire ObjectRocket? We are committed to providing customers with the tools they need to build their businesses on top of the Rackspace Open Cloud. Databases are the core of almost any application and MongoDB is quickly becoming the de facto choice for NoSQL applications. See the blog post from Rackspace president, Lew Moorman on the rationale for investing in MongoDB here.
