The kids are officially back to school and we’re moving closer to fall. Here at the Rack, we haven’t slowed down. This week, we opened a new Geekdom location in San Francisco; gathered with major research institutes to discuss open technologies and high performance computing; and spotlighted some use cases for Rackspace Private Cloud. Check out all of this and more in the weekly digest.

Geekdom Opens In San Francisco: Get Involved In A Developer-Centric Workspace
This week, Geekdom San Francisco opened its doors[1] to provide a new home for developers and startups alike. If you’re working on developer-focused opportunities, or are building something intimately connected to cloud computing, there’s no better place to be close to the action.

Cloud, HPC And Open Technologies Converge To Fuel Research, Innovation
A group of 30 key stakeholders and decision-makers from academia and industry got together at Argonne National Laboratory[2] last week to share their views on how open computing solutions can best support existing and emerging use cases in a range of research disciplines and high performance workloads.

Private Cloud Use Cases And Respective Application Architectures
This week, we outlined three of the most popular use cases we see in Rackspace Private Cloud[3], and also added some color commentary on the application architectures that are typically used when designing your environments.

Bringing Go To The Cloud with The Gophercloud SDK
Rackspace is investing in Go by creating a multi-cloud software development kit (SDK) for the Go programming community called Gophercloud[4]. It will support OpenStack first, Rackspace Cloud second.
