One Patent Troll Down…
Rackspace and Red Hat this week defeated Uniloc, a notorious patent troll. The patent suit was dismissed prior to filing an answer in the case. The judge found that the subject matter of the software patent was unpatentable under Supreme Court case law, and in the written order recognized that many of the fundamental operations of a computer are pure mathematics and are not patentable subject matter.

Welcome Exceptional Cloud Services
This week, Rackspace acquired Exceptional Cloud Services and its suite of developer solutions that includes error tracking and Redis-as-a-Service capabilities. This acquisition enhances our toolset for developers deploying and managing applications on the open cloud. Exceptional CEO Jonathan Siegel and his team will join the Rackspace family.
