Another busy week is in the books here at Rackspace, and we’re pumped about what’s to come. In case you missed anything, here’s a handy digest to get you up to speed.
Last week was big. Rackspace officially unveiled the Rackspace open cloud[1], the public cloud built on OpenStack, the open source cloud operating system we co-founded with NASA. The result is a cloud offering that is better, faster and more affordable[2] than before. Cloud Servers powered by OpenStack[3] is now in general availability, as is Cloud Databases[4]. And it’s all managed through the slick new Cloud Control Panel[5]. And this is just the beginning. The Rackspace open cloud will soon include Cloud Block Storage[6], Cloud Networks and more.
Tune in Tuesday, August 7 at 2 p.m. CDT for the latest SharePoint Tuesday Virtual Q&A. This week’s event features SharePoint MVPs Shane Young and Todd Klindt, formerly of SharePoint911, who will answer your SharePoint questions live. Sign up today[7] to secure your spot. For more SharePoint information, check out previous SharePoint Tuesday installments[8].
The Rackspace open cloud has customers talking. BambooHR has seen a boost in flexibility and versatility[9] with Cloud Servers powered by OpenStack; SnapPages has made database management less of a headache[10] with Cloud Databases; and SOASTA is spinning up thousands of Cloud Servers[11] with incredible speed.
We’re huge advocates for startups. And the Rackspace Startup Program[12] continues to showcase upstarts that are taking the tech world by storm. This week saw insight from Picbound[13], a photo book building website; and myTab.co’s Heddi Cundle[14] gave it to us straight up in our new Straight Up Startup feature[15].
