For years, we’ve prided ourselves on our quirky culture at Rackspace. We strive to create a comfortable environment where Rackers are inspired to volunteer their best each day – and a lot of that inspiration comes from fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
In the technology sector, one particular demographic whose talents have traditionally been underrepresented is women. Simply put: we don’t want to lose, or underutilize, this untapped talent.
That’s why we’re partnering with Lean In, a nonprofit founded by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, to encourage women to “lean in” and pursue their professional and personal goals with gusto. The women’s empowerment foundation spawned from Sandberg’s book, Lean In, which points out that females hesitate to take on leadership roles for reasons like social pressures and self-imposed doubt.
Lean In is committed to promoting opportunities in the workplace for women through practical education and community conversations – and so are we. We’re standing with Sheryl Sandberg and leaning in because we want to combat the gender stereotypes that negatively affect women’s professional experiences.
We’re working towards building a more inclusive working environment here at the Rack. One strategy has been to provide a forum for community conversation through our newly created Employee Resource Group, called POWER: Professional Organization of Women Empowered at Rackspace.
“Teaming up with Lean In will solidify our commitment to POWER and our company’s goals of a community where women thrive and drive greatness at Rackspace,” says Rackspace President Lew Moorman.
POWER is just one of the ways we offer continuing opportunities for women at Rackspace to work with the latest technologies and play a key role in business-critical projects. We know there’s value in tapping the talent of smart, driven women in high-powered positions: we’ve seen results firsthand from superstar Rackers like Vice President of Enterprise Cloud Sales Lisa Larson and Melissa Gray, our director of sustainability.
Join us in encouraging and empowering motivated women who want to take on management roles at Rackspace and other technology companies.
