We talk a lot about our amazing culture and how great it is to work at Rackspace. We’re a little biased, of course, because we live it every day; so it’s an awesome honor when an independent party gives Rackspace a nod and says it’s one of the best places in the country to work in IT.
IDG’s Computerworld this week ranked Rackspace as No. 37 on the Computerworld 2012 Best Places to Work in IT list. We’ve climbed from No. 82 in 2011. This marks the fifth consecutive year Rackspace has ranked among the top 100 in the annual survey, which is now in its 19th year.
“This San Antonio-based managed hosting services company looks for tech staffers who can deliver exceptional customer service, often hiring people for their attitude and aptitude, and then training them to develop technical expertise. Every manager has a “fun budget” that can be tapped to celebrate team and individual successes. After seven years of service, employees are eligible for a one-month paid sabbatical,” Computerworld wrote about Rackspace.
The Computerworld 2012 Best Places to Work in IT list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire that examines a company’s offerings in a host of categories including benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. Further, Computerworld conducts surveys with IT workers and employees and leverages their responses in determining the rankings.
In a statement, Computerworld Editor-in-Chief Scot Finnie said: “The organizations on this year’s Best Places to Work in IT list consistently seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits. Many of these organizations have spent years building top-notch IT workplaces, and we applaud the amazing work they’ve done to sustain dynamic environments where IT professionals can work with the latest technologies and play a key role in business-critical projects.”
We strive to create an environment where Rackers are excited and inspired to volunteer their best efforts each day to offer Fanatical Support to our customers and each other, This type of recognition shows that we’re on the right path. Thank you to Computerworld, and thank you to the Fanatical Rackers whose work and dedication earn us the designation as one of the best places to work.
