Manage your Cloud Files Account with Cyberduck

4

This post was written by David Kocher, Creator of Cyberduck, a Rackspace Cloud Tools Partner.

Cyberduck, the premier cloud storage client that debuted on the Mac, is now also available on Windows and allows you to connect to Rackspace Cloud Files or any OpenStack compliant storage provider. It features a browser to download, upload and move or copy files using drag and drop with an hierarchical view to browse large folder structures efficiently. Data transfers are handled with ease, including synchronization of local data with remote directories. To edit files, a seamless integration with any external editor application makes it easy to change content quickly directly in the container.

Cyberduck provides configuration options to enable Akamai content distribution network (CDN). It allows you to toggle access logging for containers and to purge files from edge locations. The CDN URLs of files including the newly introduced SSL endpoints can be copied quickly to the clipboard.

Bundled with more than 30 localizations including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, German and French, the user interface makes you instantly feel at home.

So, I think I’ve just discovered how to put a subfolder inside a bucket. You just drag it in. :) I can see the file using the new CNAME’d (THANK YOU!!) url with my subfolder.

Is it supposed to work like that? That easy? Just drag the folder in?

The subfolder does not, however, show up in the Rackspace web interface. Should it? Will it? Is that being worked on?

Ahem… I am most dreadfully embarrassed. :) The files ARE showing up in the web interface. Please disregard that last part.

      But really? That easy? Awesome!

Excellent post! I?m just starting out in community management/marketing media and trying to learn tips on how to do it effectively – resources like this article are incredibly helpful. As our company is based within the US, it?s all a bit new to us. The example above is something that I worry about as well, the way to show your own genuine enthusiasm and share the fact that your product is useful in that case
