With over 300,000 daily passengers, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), is responsible for not only keeping the rails running in the San Francisco Bay Area, but also maintaining up-to-the minute schedule data via their website. This information is used by thousands of developers to create neighborhood map apps and location-based services, as well as daily travelers confirming train schedules. After multiple acquisitions and a and stalled public relations campaign due to connectivity issues with their previous provider, BART was searching for a responsive, stable hosting provider. After reviewing the Rackspace RFP against many others, they chose Rackspace.
Rackspace implemented a web solution that helps them maintain communications in the event of a disaster, eliminates connectivity issues, and allows a communications team of two to deliver information to a community of two million.
