GitHub Moves to Rackspace!

With our strong commitment to being an open cloud, we couldn’t be happier to officially welcome a leader in the developer community, GitHub, to the Rackspace family. When we needed a way to build a collaborative relationship with developers interested in using our Cloud services, we chose Github over other source-code hosting solutions due to its robust and feature-rich service.  They are leading the way in moving the community toward distributed version control which is a perfect model for community-based development.

In this move to Rackspace, Github will be using dedicated gear for now but they’re thinking about using cloud computing in the future to offload specific workloads.  This highlights the power of choice that Rackspace brings to its customers.  Just as Freshbooks, Pangea Foundation, and Razorfish discovered, there are huge advantages of utilizing the cloud to offset workloads and still keep dedicated gear for other custom configurations. In addition to Fanatical Support of course, this is really another true advantage of hosting at Rackspace.   Lew Moorman, has gotten to know the founders of Github this past year and he just authored a blog post on Github’s move to Rackspace.  Read his full post here.
