Free Backups For MongoDB

I lay awake at night worrying about other people’s data.

When I was a database administrator, I worried about my company’s data. Was it secret? Was it safe? Was it backed up? Was that my pager buzzing?

When we started ObjectRocket, my cofounders and I worried about our clients’ data. Becoming a business owner showed me just how much is at stake when our customers entrusted us with their digital jewels. Losing customer data would have ended our business. Backups went from good housekeeping to survival necessity.

Now I find myself worried about data beyond our walls and the installations of our customers.

I’m finding that it isn’t enough for us to sell our super-fast and reliable instances. As often as not, we’re selling the underlying database software and schema as a solution for really complicated problems. Or we’re partnering with developers who already use MongoDB and helping them show how the database can be high performance and ready for production.

Either way, we’re often addressing concerns that go beyond our specific service and get to the heart of the ecosystem: is MongoDB reliable? Today we’re doing what we can to take that concern completely off the table and give organizations confidence wherever they choose to host it.

ObjectRocket now offers free daily backups for any MongoDB instance, of any size, running anywhere. Simply sign up for a free ObjectRocket account, add a MongoDB instance—either hosted with us or hosted remotely—and we’ll start backing it up for you at no charge.

We’re doing this to level-up the entire MongoDB community. We want everyone who uses this software to be secure knowing their data, or their customers’ data, is backed up.

It’s our hope that developers will be able to continue using this powerful NoSQL database and not have to get wrapped up in the infrastructure backend—or its backups. We want all MongoDB users to be able to build their dreams, not lose sleep worrying about data.
