Creating Scalable Web Apps: An Insider’s Look

Filed in Cloud Industry Insights by Joseph Palumbo | August 1, 2013 3:00 pm

One of the main draws to the hybrid cloud[1] is creating an app that might be small today but could scale to be huge tomorrow. However, scalability is not something that happens right out of the box; it has to be built into your app and infrastructure.

In order to take advantage of the scalability of the cloud, you should build your application in a modular fashion[2]. This means splitting your site into three tiers: web, application and database. Achieving this level of modularity allow a business to scale out the tier that needs more resources as traffic dictates it.

The Rackspace Cloud Launch Team is here to help advise you on how to prepare your app to be highly scalable. In this video installment of the Insider’s Look[3], you can see the level of expertise my team brings to the table to help you with your app’s architecture. Furthermore, for those customers who are not experienced in hosting technologies, we offer a managed service level that offers more hands-on assistance with system administration.

If you have any questions, be sure to give us a call at Rackspace and ask to speak to a Cloud Launch Manager.

Take an insider’s look at how the Cloud Launch team approached the architecture of an Ecommerce site[4] in the previous video and blog post by Joseph Palumbo.
