It’s no secret that Rackspace loves startups – we were one ourselves not so long ago. What we love even more is seeing startups succeed.
Today, we’re sending our congratulations to Rackspace Startup Program member TrueAbility, a technical assessment platform provider, for raising $2 million in its first round of venture funding led by Austin Ventures. The Cloud Power Seed Fund 2013 also participated in the round.
TrueAbility will use the funds to expand its platform technology, which helps employers get an accurate assessment of a technical job candidate’s complete skillset. The investment will also help increase customer acquisition activities and add key hires in development, marketing, recruiting and HR channel relations.
“With this funding, we will be able to move forward on building out, delivering, and scaling AbilityScreen assessments for the most needed cloud technology roles,” said TrueAbility Co-Founder and CEO Luke Owen in a statement. “Based on feedback from initial customers and employers, we have a specific roadmap to follow over the next eighteen months that pairs with the most critical and in-demand projected technology hiring needs.”
TrueAbility was founded in San Antonio just 14 months ago by four IT geeks who spent much of their careers with Rackspace. With more than 30 years of combined experience in hiring, training and developing teams of techs, they launched TrueAbility after recognizing a deep opportunity for change in the technical recruiting process.
This year has been huge for the company. In January, TrueAbility landed $750,000 in seed stage funding led by Rackspace co-founder Pat Condon and Chairman Graham Weston. The team was also selected to showcase its technical assessment tool at TechStars’ first themed accelerator program last April in San Antonio.
We’re proud of our commitment at Rackspace to helping startups like TrueAbility thrive. With $2 million more in venture backing, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of TrueAbility in the future.
