Cloud Expo[1] kicks off today at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. The 11th International Cloud Expo brings together some of the brightest minds in the cloud and there will be a number of Rackers there to discuss the power of the open cloud during a thought-provoking keynote presentation and other sessions. Rackers will also be on-hand at the Rackspace booths on the expo show floor.

Keynote Presentation

Tuesday, November 6
9:05 a.m. to 9:50 a.m.: An Open Cloud Discussion
In this keynote presentation, Rackspace CTO John Engates will discuss the differences between open clouds and closed, proprietary clouds while highlighting how cloud computing has become intertwined with day to day life and how enterprises must build their businesses for a cloud world.

Monday, November 5:
2:10 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.: Cloud Application Black Magic
Rackspace Developer Advocate Wayne Walls will highlight some of the best practices and tools to help you move to the cloud, and to make that move as painless as possible.

4:25 p.m. to 5:05 p.m.: This is Your Career. This is Your Career on OpenStack
Niki Acosta, Product Evangelist for Rackspace Private Cloud, will showcase how OpenStack is creating job opportunities; how people are finding careers in OpenStack; and share some stats on the number of OpenStack-focused jobs available today.

5:10 p.m. to 5:55 p.m.: Scaling in the Cloud
Rackspace Advisory Services Principal Solutions Architect, Cloud Strategy Brian Jawalka will discuss key considerations for scaling in the cloud and how the cloud can best work for your applications.

Tuesday, November 6
2:10 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.: Network Virtualization – Amplifying the Power of Cloud Computing
Jamey Meredith, product manager of the Rackspace open cloud responsible for Cloud Networks, will show attendees how software-defined networking will break down barriers to entry for cloud and highlight the pros and cons and everything else in between you need to know to optimize the network in the cloud.

Wednesday, November 7
9:55 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.: The IT Talent Shift: Preparing Your Enterprise IT Talent for the Cloud
In this general session, Lisa Larson, Rackspace Vice President of Enterprise Technical Sales, will help attendees determine how to best prepare their IT talent for the shift to cloud computing.

Along with the riveting speaking engagements, Rackspace will have two booths on the Cloud Expo show floor. One will be feature “listen and learn” in-booth sessions, while the other will provide an immersive walk-through of “The Open Cloud Experience.” Make sure you stop by – the expo floor is open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday.
