MongoDB is taking the database world by storm. And at 11 a.m. PST/1 p.m. CST Wednesday, February 12, we’re hosting a webinar during which we’ll highlight the fundamentals of ObjectRocket, Rackspace’s managed service for MongoDB, and hear from two Rackspace customers, Appboy and Untappd, as they share their stories of MongoDB on the cloud.
January brings us a brand new 2014. Benjamin Franklin was born this month in 1706. The drinking straw was patented in 1888. Make Your Dreams Come True Day fall on the 8th. Amelia Earhart flew solo across the Pacific Ocean in January 1935, and first flight of the supersonic Concorde happened in 1976. The United Nations General Assembly first met in London in January of 1946. And, in the words of Suze Orman, “No one’s ever achieved financial fitness with a January resolution that’s abandoned by February.”
HealthCare.gov is not unlike any other website – visitors expect it to just work. The problem is, when HealthCare.gov launched, it didn’t work. It was slow. It crashed. Users couldn’t get through the process. Simply put: it failed.
December brings us International Day of Persons with Disabilities on the third day of the month -  the theme of 2013 is “Removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all.” Inventor Eli Whitney and composer Ludwig van Beethoven were both born this month in the 1760s. The first day of winter falls on December 21. Texas became the 28th state in the United States in December 1845. And in the words of William Shakespeare, “When we shall hear the rain and wind beat dark December, how in this our pinching cave shall we discourse the freezing hours away?”
It wasn’t too long ago that Rackspace was a small business. And many of our customers are small businesses, too.

UPDATED November 3.
November brings us World Hello Day on the 21st of the month, a day to bestow simple greetings to others and express your concern for world peace. Magellan sailed into the Pacific Ocean in November of 1521, and Lewis and Clark trekked the United States from east to west and reached the Pacific this month in 1805. Scientist Marie Curie was born in November 1867. King Tut’s tomb was discovered this month in 1922. The first iPod was sold in November of 2001. And, in the words of J.K. Rowling, from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, “October extinguished itself in a rush of howling winds and driving rain and November arrived, cold as frozen iron, with hard frosts every morning and icy drafts that bit at exposed hands and faces.”
In IT, we talk about the stack – a lot. Whether it’s the LAMP stack, the Windows stack, the technology stack; we have the tendency to look for things in a neat and orderly stack that comprises distinct, specific layers.
You may have heard us recently proclaim how much we love developers and love to see killer applications built in the cloud.  To no surprise, New Relic, a close Rackspace partner, shares this same love.
